About CrEd Windhoek
CrEd Head/s: Lauren Stainton-Traut
Lauren Stainton, originally from South Africa, spent her formative years in Windhoek, Namibia. She pursued her passion for education by obtaining a BA degree in Psychology in Cape Town, followed by a Post Graduate in Teaching through UNISA. Married and a mother of two children, aged 14 and 8, Lauren has always had a strong desire to work with young children. Throughout her adult life, she has dedicated her days to educating and nurturing children, finding immense fulfilment and purpose in this role. With her background in psychology, Lauren has developed a particular aptitude for working with special needs children. She spent 10 years teaching autistic children in Cape Town before transitioning to a Special Needs school in Namibia for three years. Eventually, she moved into mainstream teaching, bringing her wealth of experience and expertise to benefit a broader range of students.
In Windhoek, Lauren’s school is actively involved in developing drama and musical theatre programmes within schools and private studios. Their focus goes beyond artistic expression, as they aim to cultivate essential 21st-century skills such as collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. By integrating drama and musical theatre into the curriculum, students are provided with a platform to explore their creativity, develop their communication skills, and think critically about various aspects of performance. Through collaborative projects and engaging activities, the school creates an environment that encourages students to express themselves, work together, and think outside the box. This holistic approach to education not only enhances artistic abilities but also equips students with valuable skills that are crucial for success in the modern world.
